Declutter My Makeup Stash

I start cleaning my makeup drawer for more space. It actually doesn’t take much time. When I clean it, I just keep the following 2 things in mind.

  1. Is it expired already?
  2. Am I going to use it often?

I think it is no doubt that we need to throw away every makeup product that’s expired unless you want bad skin or allergy. In case you are not aware, most makeup product has a little jar looking icon showing how long we can keep the product. If that jar is opened and has “12M” on it, it means it can keep 12 months after open. I think the tricky part is when it doesn’t have any label on it. It happens when it is a sample. I keep a lot of samples and forget when did I get them. I tried to write the day I received it on each sample. Actually, most things I throwaways are expired.

I also throw away any products that I know I will not touch within 3 months. Actually, I throw most of them away because they don’t suit me, I don’t like them anymore or they are produced by a non-cruelty-free brand. It takes a long time for me to find out the brand is cruelty-free or not since Asian brands don’t provide this information openly or in English.

Decluttering really helps me to control my spending. I realize how much waste I create. Although I don’t regret buying them to try them out, it is not a healthy habit to keep buying more. Now, I start knowing what I like, looks good, and works on me. I don’t buy new makeup related stuff now. I think the Petit Vour Box can provide enough supply for me. I try to only buy things I really need now. I still need to find my ideal foundation or BB cream. I already find a couple of brands I will shop from and stick to. Once I finish everything I got, I will buy from them again. I will talk about it in a future post. I am going to do a closet decluttering too. I have some pieces are brand new and would like to sell on Depop. Anyway, this a very short post. Maybe I should talk more about what I throw away? Let me know if you are interested. I will see you in my next post.
