Birchbox Unboxing (May 2017)

I can’t believe it is May! It is almost half of 2017. I think I still have a lot need to do before this year end.  I keep searching subscription box to try out especially those Asian beauties related. After blogging more and trying more new things, I found out I am into Asian beauty more and Asian beauty will fit me more (skin tone and hair) since I am an Asian. XD This Birchbox will be my last Birchbox because I think I won’t get much out of it, and I got enough hair product samples now. XD Now I don’t need to prepare much for traveling.

This month box is very colorful and I love it <3

M.A.C Cosmetics – False Lashes Mascara – False Black

I haven’t tried this mascara yet, and some people think it is great and some think it is easy to wash off. I will try it on Sunday and see if it is a good one to invest into. Have you tried this? What do you think?

Manna Kadar Cosmetics – Glo Illuminator

I don’t have a chance using it yet so I am not sure if it will be good for a long day, but it has a very pretty pink color. I will try it on Sunday with the mascara and update this later. But Anyone tried this too? Any suggestion when using it?

Marcelle – New-Age LumiPower 3-in-1 Moisturizer

I am not a big fan of this moisturizer since I am into cream or lotion type more. This is a gel-type moisturizer. It is hydrating but not moisturizing. I will need another moisturizer or sleeping mask on top of this. It might be good for people with oily skin.

R+Co – Death Valley Dry Shampoo

This smells good. XD It is like other dry shampoos, but I think this one does a better job. It makes my hair clean looking and not stinky. I want to save it up for the end of this year since I am planning to cut a bang around November. Dry shampoo is best friend with bangs. XD Although it is such a waste, the sample size is the best to keep with us for work, school, or other events.

Vasanti – BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator

This is a vegan-friendly cruelty-free paraben- free exfoliator. It has papaya enzymes, aloe vera, coconut, and panthenol. I tried it today, and I love it!  I never like any exfoliator since they always irritate my skin and make me breakout. This product is the exception! The texture is like sorbet. Unlike most exfoliators, there aren’t any micro-beads. It is like very fine powder sugar. It might not make you feel like an exfoliator or think it does anything when you using it, but once you rinse it, you will immediately feel your skin get very smooth and soft! It doesn’t make me feel any dryness or tighten. I think it is good for sensitive skin. I am surprised with the experience and how wonderful a vegan product can be. I am going to purchase the full size since it is amazing!

As I mention in the beginning, this will be my last Birchbox. So far they do an OK job. Nothing turns me off, but nothing really makes me keep my subscription. I am glad to meet this nice exfoliator in this box! I know I can play around with my survey and get the most out of this box, but if a subscription box has less than 50% of items that can make you feel excited, that subscription box might not be good to keep since more than 50% of it will be a waste.

That’s all for my last Birchbox unboxing! If you subscribe Birchbox, I hope you love yours too! I am trying to search more vegan beauty products to try and maybe replace my non-vegan ones. Any suggestion? Thank you very much for reading my post <3 😉 <3

  1. I am new to blogging and have just found your blog and I love it! Do you think you get lots for your money with Birchbox or do you recommend other subscription service? x

    1. Thank you very much, Chloe!
For Birchbox, I originally subscribe it for some hair samples that I can take to travel or sleepover. It has a lot of potential and is good for people who want to try anything. $10 USD including shipping and 4-6 samples is a fair price. I just can’t see any special from Birchbox to make me continue my subscription.
If you like box more focus on makeup, Birchbox is NOT a good choice. I think Boxycharm and Ipsy looks really good if you like makeup, but make sure check at least 6 of their previous boxes to see if that is your style. I think their box are not my style so I never subscribe 🙁
You can also check out Allure Beauty Box. Their first month box is $10 and will include a doucce eyeshadow palette (4 colors). It is mixed of skincare and makeup. I really like it especially the total value of the box always a lot higher.
There are some other beauty subscriptions too, but I don’t know much brands so don’t really know the true values. I just think some of them are sucking our money and not giving much. I always check out to see the inside and maybe spoiler 😉 If I think the box is worth the price, I will bookmark it and read the comments to see if they have good costumer service XD

  2. I’m so glad you like the Vasanti exfoliator. It’s one of my favourites. I always like to recommend people to use it first like a mask – spread it on dampened skin, leave it on for 10-15 mins to let the enzyme do their major. Then re-wet your skin and do gentle circular scrubbing motion. It’s really great! 🙂
I don’t subscribe to any beauty boxes because I know I’ll end up only liking maybe 20% of the things and be left with a bunch of duds. I’d rather just buy what I really want, or get samples at Sephora if I want to test something out.

    1. I will try it next time. I was wonder how’s that enzyme works if I use it as a cleanser. Aww you make me excited to use it again <3
That is good! I was subscribing for learning new brands and products. It is how I meet Vasanti 😉 I am more into Asian beauty but it is not worth the price when buying online or in the United State. I am glad they import more Asian brands. Well, I think I will get crazy if I travel to Asia XD

  3. You literally get such amazing products in these boxes don’t you?! I’m so glad you share these because I has never heard of Birchbox before your posts hehe! 😊 xx
