5 minutes cleaning mask – Derma E Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask

I have tried some decent cleaning masks and found several interesting masks, but this Derma E Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask is the best for oily skin! I think this is one the best item I got from BirchBox so far. I am glad to meet this mask <3

Let me start with their basic information. Their official website is here. The full-size (1.7oz/ 48g) of this mask cost $19.5 USD. It approximately can last me ten times if I use it all over my face. It will last you longer if you just use it on your T-zone. It is an exfoliator and detox mask mixed product. It claims that if you use this mask once or twice a week, your skin will look dramatically fresher, healthier and purely glowing. Please note that this mask uses apricot seed powder to exfoliate dead skin cell. It has natural clays – Kimarine® Wakame, Bladerwrack and Activated Charcoal. These three ingredients can protect skin against environmental pollutants, support skin hydration and nourishment, and absorb impurities and deeply rooted toxins.

The texture is smooth and easy to spread on face, but you have to spread on face very quickly since this mask dry super fast! The instruction said to leave it on for 5 minutes or until dry. It dry within 3 minutes for me unless I put a very thick layer (3mm+). I can’t be lazy or make excuses to not use cleaning mask since this dry so fast! It is almost like a cleanser. I don’t need to walk out from the bathroom. XD

This apricot seed powder is very small. At least my sensitive skin doesn’t get red or feel irritated. When I wash off the mask, I can see charcoal looking powder and it doesn’t get wash off like pieces. Most wash off make I have tried would get washed like pieces. This one is like it melts when it gets wet. It doesn’t dry out my skin or make it super soft. Nothing surprises me. I can see those white heads pop out from my pores so this mask do a decent job at cleaning pores. It cannot clean my deeply rooted blackheads. Since I have the sample version so I couldn’t know if it will clean blackhead after several uses.

To be honest, I didn’t feel any different between this mask and other wash off masks at first. But on the next day, I notice my skin didn’t get as oily shine as it used to be! It makes my skin to looks like normal skin all day long. I have the combination to oily skin. I am not sure it will do the same to people with extremely oily skin, but this is the mask that works well for next day too. Not many masks could do this! At least I haven’t met one that can do this with the same price! If you have the concern with oiliness, I recommend giving this a try. I hope this will work wells on you too.

Overall, I love this affordable natural gentle convenient mask! I am going to purchase more once I finish all I currently have XD I am really glad this is one of the samples in the BirchBox! Have you ever tried this mask? I hope you like this post, and I love you all <3 <3 <3

This looks similar to the Charcoal mask we use on our clients. They love it! It’s nice and moisturizing and great for oily skin as well. Usually if it’s not an activated charcoal mask it wont pull out all those deep blackheads, those masks are the black ones you see people using and are usually hard to peel off.
    Thanks for sharing, great review!

You can honestly find activated charcoal powder online and make your own if you can’t find one that’s already premade. I’ve seen bunch of tutorials on Youtube, just don’t do the ones with glue. I cannot believe people are using Elmer’s glue in their masks! Think of all those chemicals… and ouch!!! Lol!
        Have a great day! 🙂
